New York was the third leg of a launch that happened in three cities on the very same day. The CMFT 11 SC, the community’s first shoe with Jordan Brand, dropped in Santa Monica, Chicago, and New York all at once on October 23rd, 2010.
The shoe carried an unmolded carbon fiber rand, a direct nod to the Air Jordan XI that first introduced carbon to the line. And like the other two cities, New York had the carbon box surprise running through it. Twenty three of the 340 pairs came in custom carbon fiber boxes from the Jordan Motorsports team, slipped in at random so the launch doubled as a treasure hunt.
Pulling off three rooms in three cities on one afternoon was the kind of swing that made these launches feel like more than a transaction.
Were you at the New York launch, and did anyone you know find one of the carbon fiber boxes?
